This collection of video and sound files, which is featured on the European Parliament website, gives a unique look back on half a century of debate in the European Parliament. The images and video clips speak for themselves and help us go back in time to find out more about the most memorable moments of the last 50 years. This online gallery is part of the celebrations to mark the day on 19 March 1958 when 142 delegates assembled for the first meeting of the then European Parliamentary Assembly.
