Magdalena Bobek, one of the most active teachers in Slovenia and a co-organiser of the event, tells us:
It was an honour for 100 young Slovenian students and their mentors to have their president, dr. Danilo Türk, attend the meeting on intercultural dialogue, which took place at the Slovenian Parliament on Thursday, 29th May 2008. The president took time out from his busy schedule and joined the students in an informal, friendly chat in which he talked about the need for open dialogue between nations. He was impressed with the students' up-to-date knowledge of current European affairs and wished them success in their future endeavours.
The national gathering was also attended by a number of national and international public figures including ambassadors His Excellency Dr Valentin Inzko of Austria, His Excellency Mr. Daniele Verga of Italy, His Excellency Mr. Tim Simmons of the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr. Groffen of the Netherlands, His Excellency dr. Jozsef Czukor of Hungary, Her Excellency Ms. Brigitte Stenius-Mladenov and others.
