The guest shared his views and opinions on the life of Slovaks after joining the European Union in 2004. Commissioner Figel’ also talked about the role of education and encouraged students to develop common activities with partners from abroad to enhance their knowledge of Europe and its citizens. Students found out more about travelling and education opportunities in a unified Europe.

Mentioning Spring Day and eTwinning as ones of the most popular school programmes that help integrate the European dimension in schools, Commissioner Figel’ pointed out that they: “help children get acquainted with computers and, at the same time, contribute to breaking barriers arising from the lack of information about their European friends. It is very important to discuss about how people communicate cultures, especially in 2008, which is the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue”.
